1. De-Select "enable software compression".
A. In Windows 95 or 98
Go to MY COMPUTER, DIAL-UP NETWORKING
Select the gv net icon
go to FILE, PROPERTIES.
click SERVER TYPES.
deselect "enable software compression" and everything thing else
except TCP/IP.
click "OK" to accept the changes.
B. In Windows 3.1
Go to TRUMPET WINSOCK, DIALER, EDIT SCRIPTS, LOGIN.CMD.
Move the cursor down to where it says:
modemsetup$ = "&c1&k0"
The "&k0" is the most popular modem string to disable compression.
Look up the setting for your modem in your modem manual and change the
"&k0" to whatever your modem uses.
Save the file, and try your download again.
If disabling compression still does not solve your problem, try
this dial-in phone number: 477-4141.
