Problem:  File Transfers Stall Before Completion

1.  De-Select "enable software compression".

A.  In Windows 95 or 98

  1. Go to MY COMPUTER, DIAL-UP NETWORKING

  2. Select the gv net icon

  3. go to FILE, PROPERTIES.

  4. click SERVER TYPES.

  5. deselect "enable software compression" and everything thing else except TCP/IP.

  6. click "OK" to accept the changes.

B.   In Windows 3.1

  1. Go to TRUMPET WINSOCK, DIALER, EDIT SCRIPTS, LOGIN.CMD.

  2. Move the cursor down to where it says:
    modemsetup$ = "&c1&k0"

The "&k0" is the most popular modem string to disable compression.

  3. Look up the setting for your modem in your modem manual and change the "&k0" to whatever your modem uses.

  4. Save the file, and try your download again.

If disabling compression still does not solve your problem, try this dial-in phone number:  477-4141.
